J. Stephen Emmick, 76, of Lewisport passed away on July 6, 2017 at his home. He was born in Lewisport in July of 1941 to the late Powers and Mary Lillian Burke Emmick. Stephen was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his brother, John P. Emmick.
As character is built on service, nurtured by helpfulness, and known by the way he lived among his neighbors, all of which can be said of the life of J. Stephen Emmick. He was sincere in his actions, true to his word, and a life-long farmer. Stephen served on many boards, he was most involved with the Hancock County Fair Board, Hancock Bank & Trust Board, and Hancock County Ag. Development Board. Stephen was honored to serve in the United State Army Reserve.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Regina McBrayer Emmick; sons, Jesse (Deana) Emmick and Shelby (Heather) Emmick; grandchildren, Hope, Holland, Harrison, Curtis, Harbin, and Hutchins; sisters, Betty Allard and Sister Veronica “Sue” Emmick; a sister in law, Beverly Spurrier Emmick along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 at St. Columba Catholic Church, Lewisport with burial following in Lewisport Cemetery. Stephen’s family will be greeting friends on Sunday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Monday at St. Columba Catholic Church. Memorial Contributions may be made to the J. Stephen Emmick & Sons Scholarship or St. Vincent DePaul.
