LaVon Leigh Emmick, 89, of Lewisport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Heartland Villa in Lewisport with her family by her side.  She was born on July 18, 1928 in Daviess County to the late Harry Herbert and Mae Halijean Hall Leigh.  LaVon attended New Chapel UMC and was a homemaker.  LaVon was a Kentucky Colonel, past president and member of Lewisport Senior Citizens and loved antiquing.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Clark Emmick and a step sister, Betty Lee Gabbert.

Survivors include her daughters, Sonia Emmick and Neita Jo (Bobby) Wheatley; a son, Byron (Bonnie) Emmick; 5 grandchildren, Katrina Emmick, Gina Roebuck, Kasey Emmick, Adria Eubanks and Amelia Laster; 9 great grandchildren along with several cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in the Taylor Chapel of Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport with private family burial following in Lewisport Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 3 pm until 7 pm on Monday and from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org or Ronald McDonald House Charities, www.rmhc.org.
