To my sister Cindy, my nieces Kristi and Jami, the grandkids, and to Mike's beautiful mother Eloise. My heart is so heavy with sorrow for your loss. Mike was truly an amazing husband, daddy, son, and Papaw. As well, a wonderful son-in-law and brother-in-law. He will be greatly missed by the many people that loved, respected and admired him for the outstanding person he was. You just couldn't get any better than Mike Powers! Dearest Eloise, I hope there is some comfort in knowing that you raised a exceptionally beautiful human being and son. May God bless you, may his spirit lift and comfort you and bring you peace in the months to come.

God bless you Mike

With the passing of Mike Powers, Hancock County will suffer a great loss for a long time to come. Mike was a tireless community advocate and shining example of a true family man. A man who worked relentlessly to make things better for us all.
For me, Mike's passing is much more than the loss of a good man. I worked with Mike for over twenty years and consider him more than just a friend.
I watched Mike take a stand in the face of adversity and he never feared the consequences of speaking truth to power. Mike was one of many who fought the good fight against corporate greed and injustice, but one of only a few who never wavered in his belief that the battle could be won. Mike was an inspiration to me and others who kept us going one day at a time until right overturned might. Words cannot express the loss I feel so I can only imagine how hard it must be for Cindy and their family. My most heartfelt condolence goes out to them as I ask that they receive the peace that goes beyond all understanding in their time of grief.
