Worden Wells Thompson, 80, of Lewisport passed away on November 6, 2018 at his home in Lewisport. Worden was born on March 5, 1938 in Spice Knob to the late Dorsey Thompson, Sr and Rachel Wells Thompson. He was preceded in death by a brother Dorsey Thompson, Jr and grandson Andrew Worden Thompson.
He was a life long farmer in Hancock County and had also worked at the Southern States Farm Store in Hawesville. He had been a member of Hancock County Farm Bureau and was president of the Hancock County Fair Board for several years. He had also served in the U S Army Reserve and was a member of Lewisport United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed farming, traveling the back roads, his dogs, but mainly showing off his tractors. He also liked to take people on tours of Lewisport in either his Gator or golf cart. Worden loved his home town of Lewisport.
Worden is survived by his wife of 31 years Carol Banks Thompson; son Darryl (Melissa) Thompson of Lewisport; daughter Rachelle (Bill) Corwin of Dover, MA; grandchildren Lori Beth Wyatt of Owensboro, Cameron Sprigg and fiancée Jessica Hagadorn of Denver, CO and Colin Corwin of Boulder, CO; great grandsons Jackson and Blake Wyatt. He is also survived by his “right hand woman” Cris Lambin.
Services are at 11:00 am Friday, November 9, 2018 at Lewisport United Methodist Church with burial following at Yellow Creek Cemetery. Worden’s family will greet friends from 3:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport and from 9:00 am until service time Friday at Lewisport United Methodist Church. The family request donations be made to either Lewisport United Methodist Church or Hancock County Animal Shelter Supporters.
