William Taylor Obituary

William David “Bill” Taylor, 78, of Lewisport, Kentucky, entered eternity in Heaven on December 5, 2025. He is now reunited with his parents William Otto and Irene Board Taylor, and his son, Dave Taylor.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathy; daughter Georgia (Scott) Smith; grandchildren Mitchell and Julia Smith; brother Dan Taylor; brothers-in-law Lee (Carolyn) Cessna and Tony Cessna; and his loyal dog, Buddy.

Through his life, Bill held several titles—Marine, Gideon, Kentucky Colonel, and deacon—but his greatest joy was being a follower of Jesus. He lived with deep faith and a humble heart, leaving a legacy of love and unwavering devotion to God and family. A true peacemaker, he held no grudges and forgave freely.

Bill was an adventurer who loved a scenic drive, a good joke, and a conversation with anyone who would pause to speak. Quirky, kind, and endlessly curious, he genuinely appreciated every interaction. He loved God and loved people. His parting words were most often a sincere “God bless.”

To know William David was to love him and the world was gentler for the years he walked through it.

His funeral service will be Friday December 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Lewisport. Visitation will be from 10 AM until service time. Burial will be in Lewisport Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to The Gideons International.
