Wanda Smith Obituary

Wanda Lucille Smith, 75, of Hawesville, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Heartland Villa in Lewisport.  She was born in Ohio County on December 26, 1947 to the late Lonard and Alberta Lyons Newton.  She attended New Life Baptist Church and was a housewife.  Wanda was a devoted wife, mother and mamaw.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Smith in 2021; siblings, Harold Denton Newton, Lonard Wayne Newton, Alma Catherine Crowe and Naomi Patrick.

Wanda is survived by her sons, Steve (Laura) Smith and Brian Smith; grandchildren, Marissa (Sam) Heitzman, Colten (Aubrey) Smith, Justin Smith, Jacob (Kelsey) Smith and Colby Smith; great grandson, Henry Smith; brother, Dayne (Diana) Newton.

Services will be held at 1 pm on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville Chapel with burial following in Roseville Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 10 am until service time.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
