Susan Maria (Madden) Dearman

June 14, 2023

Susan Maria Madden Dearman, 59, of Fayetteville, Georgia, passed away June 14, 2023, at peace, with her family at her side.

Susan was a loving friend, companion, and devoted wife to Mike, and an endearing mother to Will and Sarah, Jo and Tim, Zack, and Casey. She is survived by her husband, children, and father, Paul, Sr., as well as her siblings, Margie and George, Paul Jr. and April, Matt and Michael, Katie and Chad, Tom and Kathleen, and Joe. Her legacy is also carried on by her inlaws, Jackie and Harmon, Dona and Jim, and Thomas and Theresa, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, countless friends and pets.

Susan graduated from Hancock County High School and from Georgia Tech Engineering School. She was a loyal alumna and proudly returned for basketball and football games. She started her career working for Buckeye Cellulose in Perry, Florida, where she formed her lifelong connection with Mike. Her love for her husband was evident as they built their life together. Susan and Mike moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where they began their family. She was member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and very involved with the parish and school. In 2014, Susan and Mike moved their family to Fayette County, Georgia, and she quickly became involved in the Starr’s Mill community and Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Susan participated in all her children’s activities, including the cross country team, the drama department, choir, the school attendance office, Boy Scouts, and whatever passions her family was involved in.

Susan’s love for other people was demonstrated by her hospitality and enthusiasm in hosting parties, team dinners, club meetings, holiday gatherings, and her frequent travels to visit family and friends. She especially enjoyed her book club, pickle ball, board game nights, and any reason to have people over for dinner. She loved flowers and getting outside to enjoy the day - stopping at the park, walking at the lake, visiting the playground, and hitting tennis balls. Susan loved to try new things, feeling the fear and doing it anyway. She frequently reminded us that we can do anything for a short time.

Susan is preceded in Heaven by her mother, Ruth Madden, her brother, Patrick Earl Madden, and nephew, Michael Madden.

The family will greet visitors beginning at 9:00 on Monday, June 26 at St. Columba Catholic Church in Lewisport, Kentucky. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00. Burial will be at Mt.
