Steven A. Mason Obituary

Steven A. Mason, 64, of Hawesville, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with his family by his side.  He was born in Owensboro, Ky on March 22, 1960 to Thomas and Kay Mason.  Steve was a member of Hawesville Baptist Church, where he was on the Building and Grounds Committee and was retired from Domtar after 38 years of service.  Steve had many interests and hobbies throughout his life; riding dirt bikes, ’71 Chevelle’s, ’78 Dodge pick-up trucks, building cars and participating in demolition derbies.  He enjoyed raising a vegetable garden, golfing, fishing, hunting, bowling, cooking, going on cruises, boating, water skiing, raising chickens and collecting eggs.  He celebrated life.  Steve was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Mason and stepfather, Pascal Powers.


Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Paula Spencer Mason; daughters, Jaclyn (Reat) Haynes and Leslie (Andrew) Clark; grandchildren, Shealyn Mason, Lainey Myers, Bailey Myers, Trace Haynes, Oliver Haynes, Mason Clark, Preston Clark, Spencer Clark and Charlotte Clark; Mother, Kay Powers; stepmother, Martha Mason; step siblings, Martina (Chuck) Billings, Brian (Lisa) Greer, Ruth (Rick) Grant and Glen Powers; brother in law, Steve (Rita) Spencer; aunts, Mary Jane (Johnny) Owens and Carolyn Cassady; uncle, Wendell (Beverly) Richardson along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.


Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Hawesville Baptist Church with burial following in Mt. Eden Baptist Church Cemetery.  Steve’s family will be greeting friends on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.  Memorial Contributions may be made to the Hawesville Baptist Church Building Fund.
