Shelia (Rice) Dixon

Shelia Rice Dixon, 77, of Hawesville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 1, 2023. She was surrounded by loved ones, passed peacefully and is finally at rest and in perfect clarity.
Shelia was born to the late Kenneth C. and Thelma Newman Rice.  In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Larry Joe Dixon who she missed dearly; son J.R. Dixon; brother, Shelby K. Rice, Sr., and sister Shirley A. (Rice) Raikes.
She was a lifetime member of Mt Eden Baptist Church; enjoyed singing in choir, piano, ancestry, flea marketing with Dad, metal detecting (parakeets), NASCAR (Darrell), gardening, walks and rides on the farm, listening to music in her sunroom (Oak Ridge Boys, Elvis and Gospel mostly), Christmas, Diet Coke and most of all spending precious time and sharing stories with her family and friends.
Shelia was involved in manufacturing, politics and finance in her younger years and served on the Hancock County Industrial Foundation before becoming a happy housewife and doing the finances for the family business.
Shelia is survived by her son Jason Rice and wife, Shane; daughter Jindy Hodges and husband, John; eight inspiring grandchildren; 3 beloved great-grandchildren; brother Steve (Lisa) Rice; sister Stephanie (Van) Anthony; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins who all hung the moon.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm October 5, 2023 at Mt Eden Baptist Church Cemetery with burial following in the church Cemetery.  The family will greet friends from 12 noon until service time.
