Rickey Boling Obituary

Rickey "Rick" Boling, 78, of Hancock County passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born on July 24, 1947, in Roseville, KY. Rick was the son of the late Randolph and Ethel Bell Boling. He lived a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and a sense of humor that could sneak up on you when you least expected it.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Sylvia Graham, JoAnn (Pete) McManaway and Densil (Charlotte) Boling.  He is survived by his sister Coletta (Ivan) Roach and Vivian "Peachie" (Homer) Edge, along with many family members and friends who knew him as steady, kind, and dependable.

On Sept. 3 1966, Rick married the love of his life, NaDean Barnes, in Shawneetown, Illinois. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter and family - a partnership that meant everything to him and stood through the years.

Rick was a devoted father to Shanda and Clint (Megan) Boling. He was a proud grandfather to Ricki Jade (Ryan) Hamilton, Colton White, Hanson White, Zayne (Rebecca) Boling and Bailee (Zack) Payne. And a deeply loving great-grandfather to Keaton and Gunner Hamilton, Leyton and Chandler Boling. He found great joy in supporting his grandchildren and great grand-children in their many interests and passions. Rick also had a special place in his heart for his many nieces and nephews whom he loved and cherished dearly. He took pride in watching them grow and valued the relationships he shared with each one, always ready with a kind word, and helping hand or one of his quiet well-timed jokes.

Rick honorably served his country as a Vietnam Vet in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. He was a member of the 83rd Infantry Division and the 3rd Sustainment Command. Rick received several medals during his campaign.  A chapter of his life that reflected his quiet strength and deep sense of duty and honor to his family and country. A man who believed in honest work, Rick helped on the family farm. He worked in the log woods, built houses, pole barns and worked construction all while working at Tell City Chair (for a short while) then ended his career at Century Aluminum (38 years) in the Garage as a Mechanic.

Rick had a gift that he could fix almost anything and, if he couldn't do it himself, he would explain over the phone how to fix it.

He was an active and faithful member of Boling Chapel United Methodist Church, where he also took responsibility for caring for the cemetery. A role he took honor in. He also played on the church softball team and also the industrial softball league. Rick enjoyed golfing with his friends and family. Rick loved deer hunting, fishing, sports, and cheering on UK basketball and WNBA, especially when Catlin Clark was on the court. But more than anything he enjoyed being at home surrounded by his family.

Rick will be remembered as a man who showed love through action, faith through service, and humor through simple moments. He didn't need to be loud to be funny or flashy to be strong - he simply showed up every time.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Boling Chapel United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Boling Chapel Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10 am until 2 pm.  Gibson & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with service arrangements.  Share your memories and condolences with his family at www.gibsonandsonfh.com.
