Orville "Buddy" Dowell

Orville M. “Buddy” Dowell, 94, of Lewisport, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026 at his home under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky.  He was born in Breckinridge County, KY on October 2, 1931 to the late Daniel Boone and Hattie Hendrick Dowell.  Buddy was a member of Union Baptist Church and was retired from National Southwire Aluminum.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy.  Buddy enjoyed working his farm and was an avid artist.  Along with his parents, He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Dowell.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ilene Jones Dowell; children, Timothy M. (Diana) Dowell, Donna Lynn (Glendal) Oliver and Glen (Pam) Dowell; grandchildren, Tasha Dowell, Nick Bockhold, Coey Bockhold, Chad Oliver, Chris Oliver, Katelyn Thompson and Amanda Dowell; great grandchildren, Mason Fitzgerald, Paityn Fitzgerald, Jaxon Bockhold, Katie Bockhold, Raylin Bockhold, Addie Bockhold, Ellie Bockhold, Lydia Baumeister and Carson Thompson; siblings, Kay Carman and Henny (Wanda) Dowell.

Services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville Chapel with burial following in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.  Buddy’s family will be greeting friends on Tuesday at the funereal home from 11 am until 2 pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky.
