Mitchell l Keenan

Mitchell Louis Keenan, 75, of Lewisport entered his Heavenly home on July 29, 2026 at the Heartford House. He will be remembered as a loving father and husband to his wife, Karen Logsdon of 55 years and two children, Brian & Audrey.

Mitchell’s generosity and love for others is felt far beyond his immediate family.  He cared for others without expectation of anything in return.  Mitchell was a 50-year employee of Martin Marietta and Commonwealth Aluminum and took great pride in his work. He was a member of the Lewisport Methodist Church and one of his greatest joys was driving the Kid’s Club Bus bringing kids to church. He was a long time volunteer at the United Way and he had a lifelong impact on those fortunate enough to know him. Mitchell was a lover of animals and a supporter of the local animal shelter.

 He is survived by his wife Karen Logsdon Keenan; daughter Audrey Keenan; son Brian (Emily) Keenan; granddaughters Cameron Blan, Katie Blan and Samantha (Jonathon) Crittendon; siblings Terry (Kathy) Keenan, Marilyn Rice and Cheryl Keenan. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Louis Keenan, mother Marjorie (Pate) Keenan.

The family wants to extend a special appreciation to Mitchell’s caregivers Freda Boone and Jenny “JJ” Garcia.  He bonded with them in the last days of his life and their impact will be forever appreciated.  

Services are at 11:00 am Saturday August 1, 2026 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport Chapel.  Mitchell’s family will be greeting friends from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday July 31 and from 9:00 am until service time Saturday at the Funeral Home. The family asks that donations be made to the Shelter Supporters of Hancock County (Animal Shelter), P.O.
