Michael R. Payne

Michael R Payne, 73, of Lewisport passed away on Wednesday September 25, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.  Mike was born on May 27, 1951 to the late Edgar and Shyrlon Horsley Payne in Bowling Green, KY. Mike retired from the aluminum industry after 40 plus years of service. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends and was a lifelong classic car enthusiast, often attending car shows and events.  For the last 17 years, his pride and joy has been watching his grandson, Lawes grow up.

Surviving Mike are his wife of 50 years, Martha Vanover Payne; his daughter, Lemie Payne; son, Aaron  (Tricia) Payne; grandson, Lawes Payne; sister Lynn (Gary) Dauby; brothers Pat (Cindy) Payne and Mark (Gaynel) Payne and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mike’s wishes were to be cremated and a private family burial will be at a later date. Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport Chapel has been entrusted with the care of Mike.
