Martha Imogene (Switzer) Long Obituary
Martha Imogene Switzer Long, 100, of Lewisport, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 28, 1925 to the late Stanley and Frances Switzer.
Martha attended Goose Pond Elementary and graduated from Beechmont High School. She then went to work at General Electric in Tell City for several years.
Martha was the heart of her home, where she quietly and faithfully tended to her family, her garden and the family farm while caring for all who entered her life. Through her sewing, quilting and crocheting, she wove lasting impressions of love – each stitch a reflection of her patience, creativity and devotion to those she cherished. Always present, she supported her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in all their endeavors.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harmon B. Long; infant son, Larry Steven; daughter, Deborah Bellwood; siblings, Rose Bredemeyer, Genevieve Schaefer, Clay Switzer and Mary Long.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Gary (Karen) Long, Dennis (Denise) Long and Ron (Angela) Long; grandchildren, Brandon (Natalie Hummel) Long, Emily (Daniel) Evans, Sarah Long, Alisha (Jimmie) Lantrip, Michael (Brianna Scherer) Bellwood, Nicole (Travis) Robbins and Jaclyn (Micah) Waddell; great grandchildren, Lillian, Renick and Whitley Evans, Brodie, Keagan and Jaycee Lantrip, Amelia, Austin, Anna and Reed Henry Robbins and Vivy and Emery Waddell along with several nieces and nephews.
Prayers will be said on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 2:30 pm with visitation being held from 3 pm until 7 pm on Friday evening and from 9 am until 11 am Saturday at St. Columba Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 11 am at St. Columba Catholic Church, 815 Pell St. Lewisport, KY 42351. Burial will follow the services at Serenity Hills. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky or St. Columba Catholic Church.
