Johnnie B. Banks, 89, of Lewisport, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Hancock County on May 16, 1935 to the late Dewey and Golda Adkins Banks. Johnnie was of the Baptist faith, a lifelong farmer and retired from General Electric in Tell City, but worked many years at General Electric in Owensboro. He enjoyed spending time with his family, Kentucky Basketball and the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Thompson Banks; daughter, Bessie Lynn Banks; brother, Carl Banks; sisters, Eugenia Banks and Georgetta Banks.
Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Hawes; son, Keith (Wanda) Banks; grandchildren, Amber (Seth) Reddick, Hunter Banks, Randy Babb, Jill (Ben) Sailors and Bryan Hawes; great grandchildren, Joan “Bright Eyes” Reddick, Lilly Babb, Bella Sailors and Spencer Sailors; his 4-legged pal, Bo.
Services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport Chapel with burial following in Lewisport Cemetery. Johnnie’s family will be greeting friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 9 am until service time at 1 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewisport Cemetery Fund, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
