John W. Vanover III, 70, of Owensboro, passed away on May 21, 2025 at his home under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky.  He was born in Owensboro on August 6, 1954 to John and Louise Kelly Vanover.  John graduated from Daviess County High School and attended Boyce Bible College.  He attended Yelvington Baptist Church and was retired from General Electric.  In his retirement, John developed Sterling Park Subdivision in Eastern Daviess County.  He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.  John was a passionate outdoorsman, enjoying camping, hunting and fishing.  He also enjoyed gunsmithing, archery and swords.  He was preceded in death by his father, J.W. Vanover; siblings, Angie Vanover, Anthony Vanover and Glenn Vanover.

John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pamela Belcher Vanover; son, Joshua Vanover; daughters, Amy Nash and Ashley Vanover; mother, Louise Vanover; grandchildren, Max and Maddox Nash; siblings, Lori Segar, Carl (Debbie) Vanover, Cliff (Connie) Vanover and Kelly (Pat) Vanover along with several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport Chapel.  John’s family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 11 am until service time.  Share our memories and condolences with his family at www.gibsonandsonfh.com.
