Jo Snyder Obituary

Jo Carol Snyder, 80, of Lewisport, Kentucky, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and devotion to family. Born on October 12, 1945, to Edward H. Payne and Laura Ellen Payne, Jo Carol spent her early years as a military child, traveling to many places and experiencing life across the world, including living in Japan during her high school years. Shortly after moving back to the United States she met the love of her life, David Snyder.

Mammaw was full of life and always had her top priority as her family and love. Everyday and every event was an adventure with her and you couldn't see her without an aggressive hug and a kiss. She had so many jobs and titles throughout her life but the most coveted by her family and her was the ability to be creative. She made the most beautiful wedding dresses for her daughters, the best Halloween costumes and games to play at family events which always made each gathering loud and full of life and love. Even if you weren't apart of the family mammaw always adopted you and made you feel like it. When volunteering and making costumes for musical theater for her grandchildren, she managed to have the entire classroom calling her grandma. She never met a stranger and was known for keeping track of everyone's birthday and sending out group messages. She advocated for and loved so many animals, bringing baby chicks to her job in the town hall, nursing a flying squirrel to adulthood and always risking the repurcussions of giving every dog a little treat because they gave her "those eyes". Even in mammaw 's final moments she maintained her demeanor as a sweet person who loves hugs and kisses. She will always be remembered as someone who never lost and always taught us to keep our childhood wonder, we would all be so lucky to have lived like Jo Carol Snyder.

Jo Carol is survived by her loving husband, David Wendell Snyder; her children, Cindy Marie and Mike Garvin and Katrina Carol “KC” and Robbie Head; her grandchildren, David and Amber Garvin, Jackie and Michael Thomasson, Jake Head, Jenny and Earl Hankins, Blake and Elaine Garvin, Cassie and Joel Garvin, and Max and Raegan Garvin; and her great-grandchildren, Jayce and Mila Thomasson, along with Willow Hankins. She is also survived by her siblings, Pam Maske, Sue Ham, Edward Payne, Marisa Schmid, and Jennifer Joch. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward H. Payne and Laura Ellen Payne and great grandson Joshie Thomasson. Jo Carol will be remembered for her kindness, her creativity, and the deep love she had for her family. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.
