Jimmie Harper “Pappy”, 80, passed away on July 19, 2021 from a lengthy battle with cancer. Jimmie was born on May 10, 1941 to the late Aaron and Dolly Harper. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Columba Catholic Church in Lewisport.
Throughout his life, he was known as an avid hunter, fisherman and lover of the outdoors. Nothing gave him more enjoyment than spending time with his grandchildren and family. He also enjoyed the little things like sitting outside, riding his little red scooter around town, going to Jumping Jacks to drink coffee and cutting up with his friends.
Jimmie will be leaving behind his wife of 59 years, Carol Harper; 4 children, Jimmie Harper, Maia McCandless, David (April) Harper and Annie (Tim) Blan; 7 grandchildren, Seth McCandless, Madison McCandless, Bailee Herbert, Garrett Osborne, Kendell Harper, Cameron Blan and Katie Blan; 3 great grandchildren, Brayden McCandless, Kaiden Folds and Easton Folds; great-great grandchild, Myles David Herbert; a brother, Freddy Harper; 3 sisters, Bonnie Dockery, Brenda Tooley and Gail Burden.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at St. Columba Catholic Church. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9 am until service time. There will be a bereavement meal following the service in the church hall. Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport, has been entrusted with care.
