James Griffin (Jim) Henderson, of Reynolds Station, Kentucky, passed away peacefully June 29, 2025, at the age of 88. He was born on April 25, 1937, in Lewisport, KY to the late Arther Benton and Polina Mae Gorman Henderson.
Jim proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He retired from Southwire Rod and Cable in April of 1999. Jim enjoyed piloting small aircrafts and riding his motorcycle. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed traveling, camping, and woodworking. But most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arther Benton and Polina Mae Gorman Henderson; his stepfather, Frank Luttrell; his brothers, Bobby and Charles Henderson; his son, James Benton Jenkins; and his stepson, Chester Earl Crawford.
Jim is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Shelton Henderson; daughters Linda (Lloyd) Basham and Penny (Larry) Keown; grandchildren Shanna (Justin) Nugent, Jennifer (Joe) Boarman, James Anthony (Courtney Jones) Smith, L.B. (Jennifer) Basham, and Ashley Austin; great-grandchildren Jordan (Autumn) Nugent, Shayla (Tristan Cox) Nugent, J.T., Jameson, and Jaxson Boarman, Waylon, Chisum, and Lomax Basham, and Kaydence and Caleb Austin. Great-great-grandchildren Oliver and Reid Nugent. He is also survived by his sister, Michal Powers. He leaves behind his roommate and best friend Paul Huffines.
Jim’s family would like to thank the staff of Hardinsburg Nursing and Rehabilitation for the excellent care they provided, the compassion they showed him, and comfort they gave him in his final days.
Services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Gibson and Son Funeral Home, Hawesville Chapel and burial following in Roseville Cemetery. Jim’s family will be greeting friends on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 3 pm until 7 pm and on Wednesday from 9 am until service time at the funeral home.
