James Brandle, 81, of Hawesville, died in his sleep at home, on May 28, 2023. He was born on the family farm in Hawesville on February 26, 1942 to the late Thomas F. and Violet Snyder Brandle. James was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, a volunteer member of the Hancock County Rescue Squad for 20 years and was a retired carpenter for Thomas Homes for 20 years. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam war and a member of V.F.W. Post 5186. James was proceeded in death by his parents, Thomas and Violet Snyder Brandle; brothers Charles Brandle and Carl Brandle.
James is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Marie Rhodes Brandle; his son Wade (Sonya) Brandle, 3 daughters Anita (Mike) Haycraft, Libby (Charlie) Warner and Regina (Eric) Ludtke; 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; sister, Annabell Payne along with several niece and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 pm until 7 pm at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville Chapel.
