Donald L. Young, 89, of Lewisport, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.  He was born in Troy, IN on February 5, 1936 to the late Pearl and Leola Bolin Young.  Donald was retired from Southwire Rod and Cable and a member Hancock Christian Church.  He was a proud veteran of the United State Army, serving his country for more than 20 years with service during the Korean and Vietnam War.  Donald enjoyed going to Applebee’s, UK basketball, NASCAR and country music.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Evelyn Young; son-in-law, Billy Gillians; siblings, Gilbert Young, Lucile McFall, David Young, Margie Pate, Donna Purcell, Ruth Lechner and Karen Young.

Donald is survived by his children, Charlotte (Bob) Kerr, Cindy (Glen) Cox, Robin Gillians and Toby (Vicki) Gray; grandchildren, Raven Gillians, Robbie Kerr, Dawn Evans, Jaysen Kerr, Angelia Gray, Evelyn Ditto, Athena Young; 12 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport Chapel with burial following in Lewisport Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 3 pm until 7 pm and on Thursday from 9 am until service time at the funeral home.
