Donald P. Nelson

Donald Paige “Don” Nelson went to his Heavenly Home on August 14, 2024 while at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. 

Don was born in Mondovi, Wisconsin to Charles “Dutch” Nelson and Lucile Beatrice Brinkman Nelson.  Don loved to hunt, fish, trap, animals and traveling.  He was a great outdoorsman.  Don was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Dutch and Lucile Nelson; brother, John Nelson; sisters, Majil Steiner, Beverly Hagan and Bonnie Nelson along with his pal, Patches.

Don is survived by his wife of 24 years, Nell Rearden-Nelson; sons, Kerry (Brian) Nelson of Minnesota and Kyle Nelson of Chicago; brothers, Rodney (Judy) Nelson of Wisconsin, Wayne Nelson of Wisconsin and Neil (Linda) Nelson of Minnesota; sister, Myrna Hagan of Wisconsin; brother in laws, Bro. Leroy (Shirley) Rearden, Phillip (Toni) Rearden and Roger (Laurie) Rearden; sister-in-law, Joyce (Max) Adkins; several nieces and nephews and his fur babies, Paige and Lacey.

 Donald’s wishes were to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at Hawesville Baptist Church on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 4 pm.  Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 2 pm until 4 pm.
