Derek Ryan Helm, 40, of Cannelton, IN, passed on to his Heavenly home on Wednesday July 31, 2024 at Perry County Memorial Hospital.  Derek was born on July 27, 1984 in Perry County, IN to his mother Louise Helm and father Norman Hays. He enjoyed camping, fishing, riding bikes, cooking out, traveling, hiking and going to the Casino. He was preceded in death by his second father Curtis Tate.

Survivors include his mother, Louise Helm; three sisters Rhonda Spencer (Mannie)DeJesus, Robbin Cronin and Lavena McCullum; a brother Lance Hays; 4 nieces Kyla Wilkerson, Addison Cronin, Megan DeJesus-Chim and Erin DeJesus and a nephew Kaleb Wilkerson.

 Services are at 11:00 am on Saturday August 10, 2024 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville Chapel.  Derek’s family will greet friends from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the Funeral Home.  A private burial will be at a later date.  Donations can be made to the Cannelton Animal Shelter 200 Herzeele St Cannelton IN, 47520.
