David Eugene Haycraft, 85, of Hawesville, went to his forever home Sunday, November 2, 2025, surrounded by his family at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.  He was born on October 26, 1940 in Hawesville to the late David M. and Audrey Wheatley Haycraft.  David proudly served in the United States Army from 1963-1965.  He continued his life going on to work many years at NSA, a job he truly enjoyed.  David absolutely loved to do anything outdoors, raising a garden, cutting firewood and working in his flowers were among his favorite things.  He also loved to watch UK basketball.  What David was most known for was his huge heart.  He was an amazing father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend that anyone could ever ask for.

David was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rose Marie Haycraft, whom he will get to hold in his arms again; siblings, Mary Nelson, Hazel Estes, Sue Hubert, Glenda Rearden, Brenda Leslie, James Paul Haycraft and Marvin Haycraft.

David is survived by his children, Renee (Ray) Hawkinson, Kim (Neal) Faulkenburg and Eric Haycraft; grandchildren, Amber, Kaylee, Garrett, Dustin, Ericka, Lacey and Erin; many great grandchildren with another due in December; brother, Rusty (Joyce) Haycraft along with many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville Chapel with burial following in Serenity Hills.  David’s family will be greeting friends on Tuesday from 4 pm until 7 pm and Wednesday from 10 am until service time at the funeral home.
