Cletus E. Shadwick, 72, of, Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Hardinsburg, KY on November 29, 1953 to the late John William “Bill” and Rose Ann Gray Shadwick. Cletus was of the Catholic faith and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during the Vietnam Era. He was retired from Reed Overhead Doors and also work at West Irving Die Cast. Cletus was the world’s number 1 Waylon Jennings fan and enjoyed playing his guitar. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Delam McManaway, Dorothy Reynolds, Kay Haycraft and Carl Shadwick.
Cletus is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Hall Shadwick; step sons, Marty Elliott and Jarod Elliott; adopted son, Michael Shadwick; grandchildren, Angel Elliott, Hope Elliott, Marley Elliott and Caspian Elliott; 3 great grandchildren; siblings, Tom Shadwick, Charlie (Cathy) Shadwick, Becky (Rockie) Riley, Bessie (Tom) Ramsey, Barbara Sue Laslie, Mike (Joan) Shadwick, Ruth Greer and Mary Jo Taylor (Larry Powers), along with many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, May 4, 2026 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport Chapel with burial to follow in Kelly Cemetery, Maceo. Cletus’s family will be greeting friends on Monday at the funeral home from 11 am until 2pm.
