Carolyn Smith, 83, formerly of Hawesville, KY, passed away on August 27, 2025, at Oakwood Health Campus. She was born on November 11, 1942 in Cannelton, Indiana and is the daughter of the late Nettie Melburn Lloyd and Strother Lloyd.

On June 15, 1968, Carolyn married the love of her life, Donald Rex Smith, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Flora Evelyn Litherland Wheatley, Dorothy Howell, Anna Frank, and Helen Neff; her brother David Lloyd; and many other beloved family members who welcomed her home.

Carolyn worked for many years in environmental services at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She also ran her own ice cream shop, worked in food service, and later greeted countless friends and neighbors as a Walmart greeter in Tell City. A woman of many talents, she loved to cook, travel, and spend time with family and friends. Known as “the fun aunt,” Carolyn brought joy wherever she went. She also enjoyed drawing and painting, creating many beautiful works of art. Above all, Carolyn had a zest for life and a deep love for the Lord.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish her memory and carry forward her legacy of kindness, creativity, and laughter.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville, KY. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. CST, followed by the service at 12:00 p.m. CST.
