Carl L. Snyder Obituary

Carl Lawrence Snyder, 75, of Utica, (Masonville) passed away Monday August 25, 2025 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital, Evansville, Indiana, with loved ones by his side.  He was born on September 4, 1949 to the late Oscar (1982) & Barbara Riley (2000) Snyder. God gave him & married the love of his life Charlotte Roberts, February 22, 1969.  Through 56 years of marriage, they only had one fight, it started the day they got married.  Carl was drafted into the United States Army, serving from 1969-1971 during the Vietnam War.  


His son, Kiley, born on Feb. 20,1975, came along 2 days before our 6th anniversary (best anniversary present we ever had).  On Dec. 2, 1976, a beautiful baby girl, Tonia came along.  He loved and was very proud of his children and loved being a Grandaddy.  Carl graduated in 1968 from Hancock County High School.  Carl was a member of VFW Post #696.  He loved doing karaoke, going to casinos and playing lottery.  

Carl retired as truck driver in 2012 as an independent owner/operator and company driver for over 50 years.  Charlotte & Carl have traveled a lot of miles trucking together before becoming snow birds in Sebring, Florida in 2016

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; infant siblings, Katie Ann Snyder & Daniel Oscar Snyder, siblings Rebecca Jean Whitfield in 2013, James R. “Pete” in 2025, Joseph Calvin in 2012, Roger G. in 2023, John Wesley in 2015, Franklin E. in 2025, Timothy Ray in 2018.


Carl is survived by his wife of 56 years, Charlotte Roberts Snyder; son, Kiley (Teresa) Snyder; daughter, Tonia (Tim) Love; granddaughters, Taylor Love (Preston White) and Taya Love; grandson, Mathew Layne; brothers, David (Jo Carol) Snyder, Charles "Phil" (Cathy) Snyder; sister, Mary "Bonnie" Royalty along with many nephews, nieces and several cousins. And very special friends Reynolds and Terry (Wisconsin). Aunt Peggy, Theresa & Jim MT Sterling, Ky. Ronnie & Debra Poole Manchester, Tn.


Services will be held at Noon on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport Chapel with burial at a later date.  Carl’s family will be greeting friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 9 am until service time.  Share your memories and condolences with Carl’s family at www.gibsonandsonfh.com.
