Bettye Jean Miller Embry, 75, of Owensboro, formerly of Cloverport, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at her home under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born in Breckinridge County, KY on July 27, 1950 to the late Robert and Mabel Mingus Miller. Bettye was a member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church and was a member of Cloverport Baptist Church for most of her life before moving to Owensboro. She retired as an elementary school teacher after 30 years of service from Cloverport Independent Schools. Bettye enjoyed spending time with her family, vacationing, shopping, yard sales and was famous for her cream candy. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Hubert Wayne Miller.
Bettye is survived by her husband of 53 years, Johnny D. “Butch” Embry; daughter, Leah (Karen) Embry; sons, Robert “Rob” Davis (Will Hawes) Embry and Nathan Wayne Embry; grandchildren, Whitney Owen, Cameron (Amanda) Brooks and John Paul Shobe III; great grandchildren, Kellan Owen, Jocelyn Brooks, Leighton Owen and Madalyn Brooks.
Services will be held at 1 pm on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Cloverport Baptist Church with Bro. Donnie Embry officiating. Burial will follow the service in Cloverport Cemetery. Betty’s family will be greeting friends on Sunday from 3 pm until 6 pm at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville Chapel and on Monday from 11 am until service time at Cloverport Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the JB Embry Family Trust, which will be used for Scholarship opportunities for Emerson Academy and Cloverport Schools.
