Amy Thomas Obituary

Amy Joy (Butler) Thomas, 51, passed away on November 7, 2022. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport Chapel on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m.

Amy Joy (Butler) Thomas was born September 2, 1971, to the late Arthur Carl Butler and Frieda Renae (Bennett) Butler. She was united in marriage to Glenn James Thomas and they spent 28 years together until her passing.

Amy received a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky and remained a lifelong alumni. She retired from Kentucky State Government as a civil engineer with the Transportation Cabinet. Amy had received certifications as a Professional Engineer and as a Professional Transportation Planner.

Mrs. Thomas will be remembered as a devoted Christian with love for her church. Amy was a member of First Baptist Church – St. Clair Street. She was involved in multiple music ministries, children’s church, finance committee, and the Equal Justice Initiative.

Mrs. Thomas will be remembered for being an angel on earth and a natural caretaker. She loved Excel spreadsheets, traveling, playing Minecraft with her son James, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Amy is survived by her husband, Glenn James Thomas; daughter, Mina Thomas (Bethany); son, James Thomas; sisters, Carla Stinnett (Jimmy) and Melanie Claywell (Russell); and many other loving family members.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to First Baptist Church, 201 St. Clair Street, Frankfort, Kentucky.
