Wayne Jackson, 87, of Hawesville went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 13, 2019 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with his family at his side. Wayne was born on December 20, 1931 in Hancock County to the late Raymond and Murline Ewan Jackson. He was a member at Pellville Baptist Church, retired from Green River Steel as a Millwright, a Army Veteran of the Korean War, member of Hancock Masonic Lodge # 115 F&AM, he enjoyed spending time with his family, playing checkers with the grandkids, gardening and hunting. Wayne was preceded in death by five siblings Jerry Jackson, Bert Jackson, Leda Jackson, Anna Peyton and Donna Butler.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years Lavetta Nugent Jackson; three daughters Sharon (Donnie) Vandgrift, Tricia (James) Hutchinson and Pam (Kenny) Wilson; three sons Garry Jackson, Mark (Susan) Jackson and Michael (Sandy) Jackson; eleven grandchildren Chris Jackson, Jamie Vandgrift, Natasha Probus, Amy Calves, Kim Obenchain, Andy Hutchinson, Ashley Jenkins, Matt Wilson, Heather Autry, Lauren Phillips and Evan Jackson; nineteen great Grandchildren; seven great greatgrandchildren; a sister Marilyn Roebuck, a brother Mitchell Jackson and nieces and nephews.
Services are at 2:00 pm Saturday May 18, 2019 at Mt Eden Baptist Church with burial following in the Church Cemetery. Wayne’s family will greet friends from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville and from 12 noon until service time Saturday at Mt Eden Baptist Church.
