Shirley Decker, 76, of Hawesville, made her final journey to her Heavenly home on January 18, 2018 at her home with her family at her side.  Shirley was born in Hanibal, MO on August 29, 1941 to the late Vernon and Rachel Brinkman Goellner.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mom, nanny and sister. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially the young ones.  She enjoyed all types of crafts, needle punch, embroidery and quilt making.  She made countless quilts over the years.

Shirley was a born again believer and was of the Baptist faith.  Her goal in life was to witness to people and lead them the Lord, to please her Heavenly Father.  She has taught many Sunday School classes as well as VBS, ACTeens and I AM HIS club.

Shirley worked for the Hancock County School System as a school bus driver from the late 60’s thru the 70’s.  After this she owned Shirley’s Custom Upholstery Shop.  She was in this business for 19 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers Robert Goellner and James Goellner, her step mother Lois Goellner and a son in law, Ronnie Blan.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Decker, Sr.; a daughter, Connie (Ralph) Spier; a son, James (Robin) Decker, Jr.; her beloved grandchildren, Ryan (Julie) James, Danny Blan, James Decker III and Chris (Bekah) Decker; step grandchildren, Brad (Jennifer) Blan, Beth Calloway, Brandon (Lexie) Spier and Joey Spier; great grandchildren, Leah and Jaydon James, Kyron Decker, Bella Hendricks and Lincoln Decker; 8 step great grandchildren; brothers, Tony (Jill) Goellner and Jerry (Joy) Goellner along with several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 am on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville with burial following in Serenity Hills.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 pm until 7 pm and on Monday from 8 am until service time at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky.
