Rodney LaVerne Griffin,78, of Hawesville died on July 25, 2018 at Owensboro Medical Regional Hospital. Rodney was born on October 7, 1939 to the late Verne and Ruby Boling Griffin.
He was a lifelong resident of Hancock County, KY where he taught school for many years. He also taught at Daviess County and Apollo far a total of 27 years. He brought knowledge and joy to many young minds. In his time off, Rodney raised a garden and other crops on the family farm. He also loved to travel and made many trips with his parents to the West and traveled to three countries, Brazil, Venezuela and Uruguay. Additionally, he was an avid train enthusiast whose collection was legendary. The conductor will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his two brothers Joseph (Betty) Griffin of Tell City, IN and Russell M. Griffin of Louisville, KY; a niece Amanda Walker of Georgetown, Ky and nephew Christopher Griffin of Lexington, KY.
Services are at 10:00 am on Friday July 27, 2018 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville with burial following in Memory Gardens. Rodney’s family will greet the public from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm Thursday and from 8:00 am until service time Friday.
