Patricia H. "Granny" Meyers

On July 19th 2018, Patricia H. “Granny” Meyers, our Mom, Granny and Gigi, went to join her Lord and Savior. Mom was born on December 26, 1934 in Lewisport to the late William Holmes and Alice Holland Hawley. After graduating from Lewisport High School, Mom went to work at General Electric in Tell City. In 1955, Mom married the love of her life, the late Fred Allen Meyers, and together they raised two loving daughters. In 1970, Mom began working for the United States Postal Service from which she retired in 1997. After the passing of her husband Fred Allen in 1988, Mom was appointed to finish her husband’s term on the Lewisport City Council, where she remained a council member until November of 2017. Mom was a people person and some of her greatest joys came from talking to people on her mail route, working on the Heritage Festival Committee and helping in the Lewisport Baptist Church. Mom was loved by many and known by everyone as Granny Meyers. Mom remembered everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries and many people were on the receiving end of her cards and notes of encouragement. 

Mom was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alice Hawley, her husband, Fred Allen Meyers, two sisters, Lessie Jones and Allie Dean Oliver.

Survivors include her daughters, Theresa (David) Bivens and Angelia (Matthew) Logsdon; grandchildren, Amber (Josh) Hancock, Robin Chappell, Jordan Logsdon, Summer Bivens and fiancé Cody Mattingly, Nolan and Aaron Logsdon; great grandchildren, Easton and Emery Hancock and Ansley and Piper Chappell; sisters, Helen (Brooks) Young, Charlene (Paul) Swihart; a brother, Billy (Tina) Hawley; sister in laws, Faye Wettstain and Mary (Sonny) Hawkins and numerous nieces, neph ews and cousins.

Services will be held at 11 am on Monday, July 23, 2018 at Lewisport Baptist Church with burial following in Lewisport Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 pm until 8 pm on Sunday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport and from 9 am until 11 am Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewisport Baptist Church Building Fund.
