Orville DeWitt, 71, of Hawesville, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.  He was born in Cloverport on January 5, 1946 to the late Austin and Jessie Mae VanConey DeWitt.  He enjoyed the outdoors and its serenity, farm work and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by a son in law, Bobby Griffin and 4 siblings, Willa Mae Neff, Lucille Clark, Claude  DeWitt and Roy DeWitt.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Jane Bruggeman DeWitt; 3 daughters, Theresa (Guy) Kirchner, Lisa A. (Jerry) Wardrip and Kathy Griffin; a son, Scott (Mandy) DeWitt; 11 grandchildren, Elizabethe, R.J., Jefferey, Aerika, Zach, Austin, Alexis, Christian, Gracie, Madison and Hayley; 4 siblings, Louise Bratcher, Austin DeWitt, Jr., Barbara Purcell and Wayne DeWitt along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville with burial following in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Orville’s family will be greeting friends from 4 pm to 8 pm on Monday and after 8 am on Tuesday at the funeral home.
