John Harry Philp, 88, of Lewisport, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 23, 2018 while at Heartland Villa, Lewisport. He was born in Lee County, Iowa on April 27, 1930 to the late Harry and Luella Powell Philp. John was a member of Hilldale United Methodist Church. He retired from Willamette Industries after 25 years of employment and ran Philp’s Locksmith Service for 20 years after his retirement form the paper mill. John was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Philp; sons, Doug Philp and Mike Philp; sisters, Marion Becker-Hubbard, Evelyn Ruth-Baxter, Dorothy Philp and Alice McGraw.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Kathy (Ron) Toler and Jill (Greg) Brown; 2 sons, Rick (Donna) Philp and Bruce (Gaila) Philp; daughter in law, Sherry Philp; 11 grandchildren, John Philp, Chris Toler, Julie Bryan, Shannon Deep, Tara Lytton, Lindsey Lanham, Destiny Clark, Lacey Mosby, Corey Brown, Michael Philp and Dylan Brown; 19 great grandchildren; a sister, Delpha Wallingford along with several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 pm Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport with burial following in Serenity Hills, Hawesville. Visitation will be held from 10 am until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
