James (Jim) Edward Bittel, 82, of Lewisport, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday November 30, 2017 at his home under the care of Hospice with family at his side. He was born in Daviess County on March 4, 1935 to the late Edward J. and Ada Belle Atherton Bittel. Jim is of the Catholic Faith, he served the Lord by smiling at strangers and helping anyone in need. He was a hard working farmer and mechanic. Jim was a loving husband and wonderful role model for his 7 children. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marcella Louise Bittel. 

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Ann Cooper Bittel; 7 children, Edward “Speedy” Bittel, Anna (Mike) Dunn, Tony (Tambra) Bittel, Tina Nelson, Mary A. Morris, Lynn (Jenny) Bittel and Eddie Bittel; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a brother, Randall (Judy) Bittel. 

Services are at 11:00 am Saturday December 2, 2017 in the Taylor Chapel, at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. James’s family will be greeting friends from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday and from 9:00 am until service time Saturday at the Funeral Home.
