Georgia M. Bourdage, 67, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family in Hawesville Kentucky on Tuesday, April 18th, 2017 after a lengthy illness.  She was born in L’Anse Michigan on Feb. 22, 1950 the daughter of the late Wilbur and Lois La Fernier.  She was a member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community.   She was a loving mother and grandmother.  Georgia enjoyed cooking, painting, fishing, camping, yard sales, swimming and keeping her loving husband out of trouble.  She was preceded in death by her first husband Ed Bourdage; a granddaughter, Skyelah Dowell; sisters, Arlene (Peter) Wessman , Sybil La Fernier; bothers, Earl La Fernier, John La Fernier and Patrick La Fernier.

She is survived by her husband Robert (Bob) Douglas; daughters, Melissa La Fernier of L’Anse Michigan and Heather (Justin) Dowell of Hawesville, Kentucky; a son Edward (Tanker) Bourdage of L’Anse, Michigan and step son Rob Douglas.  Grandchildren Carisa, Cale, Aliyah, Colton, Kayden and Branson; brothers, Michael (Susan) La Fernier, L’Anse Michigan, Harry La Fernier; sisters, Marcia (Dennis) Wentland, Holdingford, Minnesota, Margaret (John) Vanover, Hawesville, Kentucky, Rebecca (Ralph) Decker, Hawesville, Kentucky, Cosie La Fernier L’Anse, Michigan, Angela (Gerald) Friisvall, L’Anse, Michigan and Rose (Chris) Landreaux, La Place, Louisiana along with several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of life will be held at 6:30 pm on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville.  Georgia’s family will be greeting friends on Friday at the funeral home from 4 pm until service time.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky.
