Frieda Renae Butler

Frieda Renae Butler, 72, of Lewisport, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.  She was born on September 22, 1946 in Owensboro, KY to the late Russell and Thelma Singleton Bennett.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Jessica Troutman. 

Frieda is survived by her husband of 55 years, Carl Butler; 3 daughters, Carla Renae Stinnett (Jimmy), Amy Joy Thomas (Glenn) and Melanie Lynn Morgan; 7 grandchildren, Angel Austin, Dwayne Austin (Stefanie), Alison Little, Mina Thomas, Garrett Morgan, Micaiah Morgan, and James Thomas; 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Mary (Bob) Bennett Johannemann; an aunt, Bonnie Brown.

Frieda worked in various churches throughout the years, most recently as the publications secretary at Bellevue Baptist Church in Owensboro before her retirement.
Frieda was a gifted artist, musician, singer and composer.  She took the world and made it more beautiful.  Her paintings won awards and were displayed in various local art exhibits.  Frieda was a lifelong member of Lewisport Baptist Church.  In addition to singing in the choir and playing violin for worship, Frieda sang alto for the ladies ensemble, RejoiceSing.  Frieda played the fiddle and other instruments as part of the Bennett Family Band.  Her favorite public performance was singing 'In the Garden' together with Carl.   

Services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Lewisport Baptist Church with burial following in Lewisport Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held on Monday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport, from 3 pm until 8 pm and on Tuesday at Lewisport Baptist Church from 10 am until service time.  The family requests memorial donations to the Lewisport Baptist Church Building Fund or Gideon’s International.  Envelopes will be available at both locations.
