Eva Myrl Howard, 90, of Lewisport, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Heartford House in Owensboro, KY after a short illness. She was born on May 12, 1927 in Hancock County to the late George and Pearl Holland Marsch. Eva married John M. Howard on June 24, 1952. They were married 23 years before he passed away on July 14, 1975. She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church in Lewisport where she taught CCD classes for many years as well as serving the church in many other ways. Eva was awarded the Sophia Award in September of 2007. Mrs. Howard retired from the Hancock County Board of Education after teaching elementary school for 45 years. Her hobbies included quilting, gardening and taking care of her own yard. She will be missed by many. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Katie Lou Marsch and Sarah Rose Hancock and a brother, Bobby Marsch.

She is survived by three sons, John and his wife Barbara of Calhoun, Tom and his wife Sue of Alvaton and Tim and his wife Alys of Bowling Green; five grandchildren and four great grandsons, Craig Howard and his wife Heather and their sons, Case, Baler and Dierks, Eric Howard and his wife Shelbie and their son Guy, Kyle Howard and his friend Malyn Brackett and Nena Howard; two step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren, BobbiSue Holmes and her children Mikala and Jon Connor and Chad Webb. She is also survived by three sisters, Georgene Poole of Lewisport, Adrian Howard of Maceo and Mary Buck of Chesterfield, MO; three brothers Gary Marsch of Lewisport, Dexter Marsch of Hawesville and Dr. Walter Marsch of Owensboro as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at St. Columba Catholic Church with burial following in Lewisport Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 pm until 8 pm on Monday with prayers being said at 7:30 pm at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport and on Tuesday from 8:30 am until service time at the church.
