Effie M. Beard

Effie M. Beard, 88, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Deaconess Gateway in Newburgh, IN.  She was born in Carthage, Illinois on July 12, 1930 to the late Joseph Warren and Rosa Barger Swartz.  She was a member of Thruston United Methodist Church.  Effie grew up in Tell City, IN, graduating from Tell City High School and from Owensboro Community College, receiving an LPN degree.    She retired after 20 years of service from Owensboro Daviess County Hospital and was a Golden Partners volunteer for 25 years.  Effie was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Beard, a daughter, Katie Cornish and 2 grandchildren, Pat Howe and Roxianne Aldridge.

Survivors include her children, Rosie Clark, Carolyn Howe (David) Renshaw and David Beard; grandchildren, Crystal Aldridge, Junior Cornish, Philip Baize and Michelle Hernandez; great grandchildren, Angel, Casey, Miguel and Paradise; great-great grandchildren, Keith, Willow, Lilly and Callie.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Thruston United Methodist Church with burial following at a later date in Lewisport Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11 am until service time at the church.
