Dawn Grant Hawkins, 67, of Lewisport, went to be with the Lord Monday, January 1, 2018 at the Heartford House with family. She was born in Daviess County on June 22, 1950 to the late Everett and Louise Grant. Dawn was a devoted and loving wife, mom, GiGi and sister. She enjoyed time at home with her family, celebrating holidays and birthdays, visiting with friends, working in her flower gardens, and watching the hummingbirds from her porch. Dawn faithfully encouraged and loved others through heartfelt cards and letters she sent and she also enjoyed the adventures of online shopping. Dawn was a devoted and active member of Lewisport United Methodist Church where she had served with her husband, Bobby, as Youth Director. Dawn also taught the Open Door Sunday School for several years. Dawn’s primary career was being a stay-at-home mom for many years, a role which she relished. She also worked at Big Rivers, Century Aluminum, was assistant to Carol Y. Boling, Attorney at Law and worked for Judge Jack McCaslin.
Dawn was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Robert “Bobby” Hawkins.
She is survived by her children, David Hawkins, and Julie Lake (Allen); her beloved grandchildren, Katie, Zachary, Anna, Logan, Josie and Jace; her siblings, Elaine Puckett (Danny) and Rick (Ruth), Larry, and Wayne Grant. And daughter-in-law Nicole Hawkins Luechtefeld.
Services are Saturday, January 6, 2018. Visitation will be at the Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Lewisport from 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM. A memorial service will follow at the Lewisport United Methodist Church at 2:00PM. It was Dawn’s wish to be cremated. Dawn’s family wishes to thank all the friends and family members in the community for their unending support, encouragement, love, and prayers. Monetary expressions of sympathy can be made to the Lewisport United Methodist Church or Hospice of Western Kentucky.
