Sallie Jane Basham, 82, of Hawesville, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Sallie was born October 9, 1934 in Daviess County, KY the daughter of the late Pearl and Anna Bell Sipes McDaniel.  Sallie was raised by her late Uncle, Forrest Black and Aunt, Nannie Frances Sipes Black.  Sallie was a member of Mt Eden Baptist Church and a housewife.  She enjoyed telling stories about her life and family and spending time with her family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband Sgt. Edward “Bub” Ray Basham, who lost his life in Vietnam and a brother Chester McDaniel.

Survivors include her son Lloyd (Linda) Basham; four daughters Nancy Hilley, Mona (Duane) Poole, Gloria (Wendell) Pennington and Machell (Garland) Kahl; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Services are at 11:00 am Monday February 27, 2017 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville.  Burial will be in Memory Gardens in Hawesville.  Sallie’s family will greet guests from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday and from 9:00 am until service time Monday.
