Roy Linton Hodges, Jr.August 4, 1921 ~ July 4, 2017 (age 95)
Roy Linton Hodges, Jr., 95, of Lewisport, Kentucky died peacefully on July 4, 2017 at Signature Healthcare at Hillcrest in Owensboro. He was born August 4, 1921 in Hancock County, Kentucky, the son of the late Ada Belle Garrett and Roy Linton Hodges, Sr. He retired as an Ironworker for Ironworkers Local #103. He was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, listening to country music and watching Westerns and baseball on television. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mabel DeRoy Sanders Hodges; by a son, William L. Hodges and by a brother and sister-in-law, Joe Wendall and Goldia Hodges.
He is survived by a daughter, Joanne Carman of Owensboro; two sons, Robert L. Hodges (Brenda) and James R. Hodges (Dot) both of Utica; nine grandchildren, Gina Payne (Rocky), Scott Carman (Tabatha), Jeff Carman (Dawn), Faye Boling (Mike), William F. Hodges (Jo), Dana Marie Marshall, Robert L. Hodges, Jr., Jennifer L. Hodges (Scarlett) and Rebecca Grant (Shawn); and several great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 in the Taylor Chapel of Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport with burial following in Lewisport Cemetery. Roy’s family will be greeting friends from 3 pm until 7 pm on Thursday, July 6, 2017 and on Friday from 9 am until service time at the funeral home.
