Orbie Lee Smith, Sr., 72, of Hawesville, previously of Stephensport, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday May 23, 2017 at his home, with family by his side.  He was born in Daviess County, KY on December 17, 1944, the son of the late Thomas and Agnes Roberts Smith.  Orbie was a member of Stephensport United Methodist Church.  He spent his life working on the river with Crounse Corp. and Yager Materials.  He loved everything to do with the river; working, fishing and boating.  Orbie loved spending time with his children, grandkids and his dog, Bobo.  He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Marvin, Vernell and Kenny Smith.

Survivors include a daughter Shannon Smith; a son Orbie Lee Smith, Jr.; 3 grandchildren, Autumn Smith, Summer Smith and Dalton Tyson along with several nieces and nephews and a close friend, Paul Cambron.

Services will be at 6:00 pm Thursday May 25, 2017 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville.  A private family burial will be at a later date.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 pm until 6 pm.  The family request all donations be made to the Orbie Smith Memorial Fund in care of Gibson & Son Funeral Home.
