Mary Catherine Haycraft Nelson, 80, of Hawesville passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at her home. She was born on May 14, 1936 in Hancock County to the late David Milton and Audrey Wheatley Haycraft. Mary was a housewife. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary loved doing crafts and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Nelson; siblings Marvin Wesley Haycraft, Hazel Estes, James Paul Haycraft, Gerald Wayne Haycraft, Brenda Leslie, Glenda Rearden and Barbara Sue Hubert.

Survivors include her two children, Paul Alvin Nelson (Suzanne) and Rhonda Johnson (Howard); 5 grandchildren, Wayne Nelson (Stephanie), Heather Starry (Scott), Ali Balabon (Eric), Brenda Brock (Phil) and Mary Surratt (Tony); 11 great grandchildren; two brothers, Rusty Haycraft (Joyce) and David Haycraft along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Monday August 22, 2016 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville with burial following in Serenity Hills. Mary’s family will be greeting friends from 4 pm until 7 pm Sunday and from 9 am until service time Monday at the Hawesville funeral home.
