Janice Powers, 70 of Hawesville went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec 11, 2017.  She was born in Hawesville on March 26, 1947 to the late James and Jamie Brown Payne.  Janice retired from Hancock County Board of Education after driving a bus for 37 years.  Many children/adults fondly remember her as the best bus driver ever. She will be remembered most for her generosity and love for others. Her passion in life was to help those in need.  She loved to yard sale and shop for a bargain and she loved her little dog Abby.  She was preceded in death by 2 sisters Judy Smith and Jill Payne.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 53 years, Jerry Powers, her children Denise Culbertson (Ted) & Joel Powers (Michelle). Also remembering her are the greatest gifts she ever received, her grandchildren: Jessica Raymer (Evan), Chelsey Heflin (Shawn) and Bo & Wyatt Powers. She also adored her great grandchildren Atticus Raymer, Aiden & Adaline Heflin. She is also remembered by her brother Jimmy Payne (Carla), sister in laws Patricia Armes (Scotty), Mary Ann Powers, Bonnie Voyles (Gerald), Beverly Robbins (Gid), Norma Lindsey (Larry), Dana Voyles (Joe), Paula Labhart (Sonny) and brother in laws Larry Powers & Leroy Smith along with several nieces & nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Blackford Baptist Church with burial following in Blackford Baptist Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 am until service time at the church.  The family asks that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Western KY Hospice of Owensboro who provided such loving care for her during her final days.
